It’s early November and time to think about how to deck the halls of your own home for the holiday season. As always, special attention ought to be paid to the lights, the decorations, and most importantly, the tree. You can go with traditional holiday decorations or try something new. You want your home to be warm and inviting for friends and family throughout the season.  Yet, sometimes it’s difficult to bring it all together. Here are a few ideas on how to do just that.

  1. A Patrick Lose Christmas: Whimsical Projects to Deck the HallsStart with the tree. Regardless of size or type, the Christmas tree is the centerpiece of any home. Some choose to embellish their tree with stylishly matched fixtures and a single colored strand of lights. However, if considering a change of style for your tree, call in the authorities!Children contribute a genuine and thoughtful touch to any Christmas tree. Forget about trying to have the perfect tree and create the best Christmas tree for your family. Let the kids create wonderful ornaments from simple inexpensive supplies. They may just string popcorn or create glitter-covered concoctions out of construction paper, but the result will be a cherished Christmas memory. As homemade decorations are added each Christmas season, your tree will become a family album full of memories.
  2. Use the branches. If you choose a fresh tree, the clipped branches can be saved for additional crafts. To extend useful life by placing the ends in water so the needles will stay on the branches longer. The boughs can be used to decorate a nativity scene, miniature Christmas village, or even the train set. Naturally, you will want to make a wreath for your front door. After stringing the branches together, attach lights, holly, or a big red bow for added color. Each year you can try new designs.
  3. Christmas candles. Candles are a versatile decorative item but you must watch them carefully. Candles may be placed around the house to create a warm glow and specially selected holiday fragrance. You can also decorate plain pillar candles with miniature candy canes or holiday-themed items (non-flammable) which can be attached to the holder or the bottom of the candles with a hot glue gun.
  4. Decorate with Christmas treats. Other inviting items include trays of cookies, fudge, and candy to show your Christmas spirit. Not only will your guests appreciate a little treat, the goodies are colorful and add to landscape. To minimize staleness, bake some ahead of time and freeze the unused portion to bake another batch when the other is depleted.

Every year the fun chore of decorating for the holidays starts all over again. You don’t have to do it all, encourage your family to help out. Sometimes it’s nice to take out the traditional decorations from years past, but it can also be fun to start anew from scratch. Holiday decorations help people get in the holiday spirit. Create right atmosphere and celebrating the season naturally becomes more fun and relaxed.

Remember Christmas should be a joyous season and avoid getting stressed out over decorations.
